Putting Camp Within Reach of All Families

Much has been written about the incredible power of Jewish Camp and how it allows kids the freedom to explore and grow in a safe space (Camp Works: The Long-term Impact of Jewish Overnight Camp). A summer at one of URJ’s 6 Points camps is an amazing experience, one that has lifelong benefits for the child, and meaningful reverberations that positively impact families, congregations & communities.

The camp experience is powerful and transformative no matter the state of the economy. A summer spent at camp is a break from the stress for the kids, and an opportunity for parents to relax and regroup,  knowing that their children are cared for, fed, entertained and educated in a safe environment.

Our goal is to help get every camper to CAA that wants to be here. We typically award around $55,000 in scholarships annually, ranging from $180-1800, to approximately 50 families, who collectively request over $100,000, meaning that we are only able to support a little over half of the total amount requested. We base distribution primarily on household income, as well as considering a variety of other individual factors impacting family finances.

  1. For new campers, there may be first-time camper incentives available that are NOT need-based – they are meant to be incentives to get families to try out camp.
  2. Each region around the country has scholarship partners who greatly value supporting the camp experience. Check with your congregation or local Jewish organization to see if they will support your camper.

At the URJ, we believe that a summer spent at camp – preferably, multiple summers – changes the lives of children for the better. Camp is the most communally, educationally, Jewishly, personally, recreationally, socially and spiritually engaging setting children can enter.

Your first time camper may be eligable for up to  $1,000 off

Maximize your opportunity for financial aid

At 6 Points Creative Arts Academy, we recognize the lifelong benefits of Jewish camp for children and their families.  CAA and our scholarship partners are committed to making camp a reality for as many children as possible.

We urge you to follow the steps described on this page to maximize available resources.
The sooner you begin looking for financial assistance, the better your chances of finding it.

STEP ONE: REGISTER YOUR CHILD FOR 6 POINTS CREATIVE ARTS ACADEMY

STEP TWO: TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ONE HAPPY CAMPER, A FIRST-TIME CAMPER INCENTIVE PROGRAM
If your child will be attending 6 Points Creative Arts as their first Jewish overnight experience, you are eligible to receive an incentive grant to help make your first summer more affordable. Incentives are available nationwide, with various conditions and amounts. Some communities even offer a second or third year off this funding. Details here!

STEP THREE: APPLY TO ALL LOCAL COMMUNITY SOURCES AVAILABLE
Many congregations have scholarship and discretionary funds available to help send children to Jewish sleepaway camps, including 6 Points Creative Arts Academy. Contact your Rabbi, Cantor, Educator, Executive Director and/or Congregational President to see what is available to you.

Many community-based Jewish organizations have camp scholarship programs as well. Contact your local or regional Jewish Federation, Jewish Welfare Fund, or other Jewish family-servicing organization to find out about availability.

Local arts organizations may also have funding available.

STEP FOUR: REACH OUT TO FAMILY & FRIENDS
Every member of a child’s support network – grandparents, aunts and uncles, close family friends – stands to benefit when a child has a transformative experience at Jewish summer camp. That is why they are often so willing to support a child in their family attending camp. Be willing to ask!

STEP FIVE: SUBMIT A FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE APPLICATION TO 6 POINTS CREATIVE ARTS
After all other available financial resources have been identified, families who still need additional funding should complete the on-line  Financial Assistance Application. We offer three rounds of funding:

      1. First round applications due in CampInTouch by December 1
      2. Second round applications due in CampInTouch by February 1
      3. Third round applications due in CampInTouch by April 1

All allocations are awarded within 20 days. We will continue to accept applications after the April deadline based on available funds. Families will need to have the parent/guardian(s) annual income information when filling out the application.

Our financial assistance application is connected to your CampInTouch account. Log in to that account, click on Forms, scroll down to the Financial Assistance Application, and complete the form in its entirety.

Our mission at CAA is to help your child experience summer camp in the environment that works best for them. Should you have any questions or concerns about affording camp, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at creativearts@urj.org.
