Welcome to Westtown

The Creative Arts Academy is thrilled to be housed at the Westtown School, a Quaker Boarding School on 600 acres located just 25 miles west of Philadelphia. Founded in 1799, the school offers 600 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds and stunning architecture, state of the art facilities, a pool, lake, ropes course and a working farm. The facilities at the Westtown School make this an ideal home for our camp.

Campers will find both an inspirational academic environment as well as a range of amenities that will serve their work as well as ensure they have the familiar and fun summer camp experience.

Dorm Life

We strongly believe in the benefits of living and learning in community.  Our participants live in one of two wings of a dormitory facility, housed in the main building on campus.  Campers are placed in rooms of two to three peers based on age.  Each wing has a Resident Advisor and several general counselors, available to our campers at all times.  Communal living spaces offer areas for group activities and meetings.  Each wing has a bathroom with multiple single occupant shower and bathroom stalls.

Arts Spaces

With a newly renovated theater, three art studios, including a dedicated clay room, musical ensemble halls and practice rooms, a commercial kitchen, and a spacious dance studio, it is easy to see why Westtown was our first choice for the Creative Arts Academy.

Staff and Supervision

At 6 Points Creative Arts, a great deal of pride is taken in the members of our staff, who provide a stable and caring summer home for campers each session. Comprised of college students and professional arts mentors, camp staff are a qualified and energetic team who model our core values in every area of camp. Extensive training is provided at the start of the season and is ongoing throughout the summer. Staff are supervised and evaluated by members of our camp leadership cohort, all of whom have proven experience as a camp supervisor. In turn, the staff supervise our campers in the dorms, while transitioning from activity to activity, and in all program spaces.

Safety and Security

All of the URJ Camps are dedicated to providing safe and secure environments for our campers, faculty and staff. We conduct regular safety and security reviews and evaluations, provide in-depth training with all camp staff prior to each summer, and work closely with local law enforcement officials to make sure our safety standards and practices are the best they can be. We work with Westtown to provide 24 hour security for our campers, staff and faculty.  On each shift there are two team members, many of whom are EMTs. The health and welfare of our community will always be our top concern.

Health Center

Our Health Center is dedicated to the physical and emotional health of our participants.  During the summer, the Health Center is staffed by a team of nurses, trained to work with our elementary, middle and high school students.  The Health Center maintains close contact with the Chester County Department of Health in matters of public health and the campus is a 7 minute drive from West Chester Hospital.

Dining

The Westtown mission is to deliver nourishment to our community in the most sustainable, inclusive and delicious way they can.  We couldn’t agree more! Westtown’s staff cater to all of our community’s special dietary needs, and serve healthy, unprocessed foods. They source 37 percent of their food locally, which includes the hundreds of pounds of produce that make the trip of only a few hundred yards from the organic student farm to the Dining Room. Weaving nutritional education into the dining room and programs helps campers develop an awareness and appreciation for the foods they eat.  They are also proud to be a green certified facility.

We never serve pork or shellfish, or any products containing ingredients derived from them. We never serve dairy and meat together in the same pre-prepared item (e.g., a cheeseburger or chicken parmesan). Campers who eat vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, and/or dairy free will have no problem finding daily meal options. Contact us for questions about any specific dietary needs or restrictions.

Westtown is home to a state-of-the art athletic center, multiple playing fields, a pool, ropes course, tennis courts and the beautiful Westtown Lake.  These facilities are used for our kinesthetic arts programs, all-camp activities and on Shabbat.
